Contour Airlines is currently recruiting Flight Attendants for its base at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing regional airline and deliver exceptional service to passengers.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Flight Attendant, you will perform required duties in an aircraft environment, adhering to established standards, policies, laws, and regulations, including Federal Aviation Administration regulations. You will actively ensure the safety and comfort of customers while providing exemplary customer service to exceed expectations. Responsibilities include assisting passengers with lifting and stowing luggage, attending to individuals needing special assistance, and preparing and serving meals, snacks, and beverages. You must maintain a professional appearance and respond effectively in emergency situations, including implementing flight deck instructions, guiding passengers during evacuations, and providing emergency medical assistance such as CPR and first aid. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and safety measures, make public announcements, complete safety demonstrations, and provide detailed written reports on incidents or discrepancies. Physical requirements include retrieving and storing items in overhead bins up to 67 inches high, opening emergency exits and closing aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds, and pushing or pulling heavy beverage and food carts. Tasks involve frequent walking, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and handling service equipment. You must also maintain the cleanliness of the cabin, galley, and lavatory while practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operations. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management or the Pilot-in-Command.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be at least 23 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and be authorized to work in the United States with the ability to travel internationally. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and a valid passport are required. Candidates must have proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English, with bilingual skills preferred but not mandatory. Compliance with DOT regulations is essential, including passing a pre-employment drug screening and participating in random drug and alcohol testing. A thorough 10-year work history review, criminal background check, and fingerprinting are required. The candidate must successfully complete Contour's four-week Flight Attendant Initial Training Program and be adaptable to a rotating schedule with duty hours ranging from two to 14 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills are necessary, along with the ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team while adhering to all regulatory requirements. Additionally, candidates must reside within one hour of the assigned domicile.
Benefits and Perks
As a Flight Attendant of Contour Airlines, you will enjoy a starting annual salary of $34,000.00, with eligibility for yearly increases based on performance and pay anniversary date until reaching a maximum annual salary of $42,564.91. Once the maximum salary is reached, a retention bonus of up to $2,000.00 each year becomes available. Depending on your schedule and if certain thresholds are met, you may qualify for additional pay incentives for extra trips worked or assigned, which are paid in addition to your monthly salary. Health, vision, and dental coverage are available along with short-term/long-term disability and voluntary life insurance policies, effective the first day of the month following your hire date. You are also eligible to participate in a 401(k) savings plan with a company match of up to 6%, effective on the first day of the month following your hire date. You will receive paid sick leave, accruing up to 56 hours per year, which rolls over annually until a maximum of 480 hours is reached. Vested vacation hours become available on January 1st following your hire date. Non-revenue/space available (NRSA) travel privileges are granted after six months of active service. You are also entitled to various leaves of absence, including medical leave, non-medical leave for family care, maternity leave, paternity leave, and personal leave, with details outlined in the Employee Handbook provided during onboarding.
