South African Airways is looking for experienced, professional, and service-driven individuals to join our cabin crew team on a temporary six-month contract based in Gauteng.     As Cabin Crew, your primary role is to ensure the safety of every customer on board while delivering a high-quality, five-star experience that reflects SAA’s service values. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of onboard service, managing customer interactions with professionalism and care, and handling any safety or medical emergencies that may arise during flight. You'll be expected to follow operational instructions from the Purser and Senior Cabin Crew Member (SCCM), resolve customer concerns efficiently, and represent the airline with pride and professionalism at all times.

    This position requires strong teamwork, resilience under pressure, and a genuine passion for aviation and people. From pre-flight briefings to inflight duties, your ability to stay calm, attentive, and responsive will make a lasting impact on both customer satisfaction and onboard safety.

    Please note: This is a temporary appointment with no guarantee of full-time or permanent employment following the end of the six-month term.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew during flights
    • Deliver inflight service in accordance with SAA’s customer experience standards
    • Follow safety protocols and instructions from the SCCM and Purser
    • Respond confidently to inflight emergencies, including medical situations
    • Contribute to a calm, professional, and cooperative atmosphere on board
    • Support cost-effective onboard operations and comply with service procedures
    • Promote and protect the airline’s brand and image in all passenger interactions
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and crew development
    • Report non-compliance issues to the Purser or Commander as needed

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 (matric) qualification
    • Valid SACAA Cabin Crew Licence
    • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
    • Able to swim unaided
    • Minimum height of 1.58m, with weight proportionate to height
    • Maximum Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35, maintained throughout employment
    • Must be able to comfortably move through the aircraft aisle
    • No visible tattoos while in uniform
    • Well-groomed, professional appearance
    • Able to work independently and without supervision
    • Reliable transport to and from work

    Preferred Attributes:

    • Additional spoken languages are an advantage
    • Previous inflight service or customer service experience
    • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
    • Culturally aware with a global outlook
    • Able to manage time and tasks effectively
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and active listening skills
    • Familiarity with aviation regulations and inflight safety protocols
