Horizon Air is on the lookout for a full-time Flight Attendant based in Portland. As the face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, you’ll be expected to serve as an authentic and gracious host on board. This role requires strong knowledge of inflight service duties and safety procedures, as well as a commitment to creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere for both guests and colleagues. Key Responsibilities:
As a Flight Attendant, you will greet passengers, assist with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and ensure security. You will explain and demonstrate the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures on board the aircraft, and prepare and serve meals and beverages. You are responsible for ensuring all safety equipment is in working order and for maintaining full compliance with all safety regulations. You will effectively market onboard products, such as meals and inflight entertainment, and process sales using a mobile device. Additionally, you will calmly resolve passenger situations during the flight, including medical emergencies, answer questions regarding flight operations, provide destination information, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be at least 21 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent, with the ability to communicate in English and demonstrate basic computer literacy and comfort with technology. A minimum of two years of customer or community service experience is required, along with the ability to attend four weeks of paid training in Portland, Oregon. The candidate must show an uncompromising dedication to safety and meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards. Body size must not exceed specific aircraft dimensions, including fit in the jump seat and harness without modification, as well as clear movement through the cabin aisle and emergency exits. The candidate must physically be able to perform the duties of a flight attendant, be flexible to work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be willing to relocate to any of Horizon Air’s flight attendant bases in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA. Extensive travel is required, along with adaptability to perform a variety of duties and operate effectively under stress. The candidate must possess or obtain a current passport with unrestricted access in and out of the United States, and for non-U.S. passport holders, all necessary travel documentation. Lastly, authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory.
