Key Responsibilities:
As a Cabin Crew Member, you will enforce and follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance with WestJet and Regulatory Standards. You will properly operate safety and emergency equipment, including oxygen systems, aircraft doors, life rafts, evacuation slides, fire extinguishers, galley equipment, communication equipment, and lighting systems. You will follow all procedures to safely perform on time (SPOT) and ensure exceptional traveler service standards both inflight and on the ground. Responsibilities include completing service and sales in accordance with WestJet service standards, anticipating and adhering to travelers’ needs, and effectively managing uncomfortable or challenging situations with the public. You must carry yourself with the utmost professionalism and poise while on duty or in the public eye and adhere to uniform and appearance standards as prescribed under company policy.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be 19 years of age or older and able to communicate with an advanced level of written and spoken English. Candidates must be proficient in reading English to successfully complete training. Preference is given to candidates who speak English and one or more of the following languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Hindi, Punjabi, or Tagalog. A minimum of 2 to 3 years of customer service experience is required. The candidate must hold a current valid passport; if a Canadian passport is not held, a Canadian Permanent Resident card along with all necessary individual visas to perform cabin crew duties wherever WestJet operates is required. The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card, which requires a 5-year traceable history, a clear criminal record, and Canadian citizenship or a Permanent Resident Card. They must be able to travel internationally, including to the United States, without restrictions. The ability to solve problems and make quick decisions in the interest of safety, crew, or traveler needs is essential. The candidate must be comfortable working in confined spaces, able to reach 204 cm without shoes and raise on the balls of the feet, and able to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist and 22 pounds overhead. Successful completion of an initial training program with no absences is mandatory. The candidate must be able to travel away from home for extended periods, be flexible and available to work a varied schedule, and be ready and willing to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Availability for reserve shifts is also required, and when on call, cabin crew members must be contactable and able to report to work within a prescribed period of time. The candidate must pass a WestJet Post Offer Employment Test.
