Join Our Skies: Cabin Crew Opportunities with Skytrans in Tropical Cairns!
Are you ready to trade a conventional office for an office with a view—over the Great Barrier Reef, ancient rainforests, and the stunning Australian coastline? Skytrans is looking for warm, professional, and adaptable individuals to join our Cabin Crew team based in beautiful Cairns, the gateway to Far North Queensland.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a role where you're not just part of a large crew but often the sole flight attendant, taking full ownership of the passenger experience aboard our aircraft. If you thrive on genuine connection, stay calm when things get busy, and take pride in delivering service with heart, we want to meet you.
What You'll Do?
Based in Cairns and reporting to our Senior Base Cabin Crew, your days will be varied, rewarding, and essential to the Skytrans experience. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading pre-flight safety briefings and demonstrating emergency procedures with clarity and confidence
- Being the calm, capable presence passengers look to in the event of an emergency
- Offering genuine support to all travellers—including unaccompanied minors, passengers with limited English, and anyone who needs a little extra reassurance
- Keeping the cabin welcoming and clean between flights, ensuring every journey starts fresh
- Administering first aid when needed, or coordinating help calmly and effectively
- Going the extra mile to anticipate passenger needs and exceed expectations wherever possible
- Working closely with the pilot-in-command to adapt to operational changes—whether it's weather, passenger requirements, or last-minute adjustments
- Managing in-flight supplies, from refreshments to essential equipment, so everything is ready when you need it
Who You Are?
You're the kind of person who genuinely enjoys making others feel at ease. Whether it's a nervous flyer on their first flight, a family travelling with young children, or a regular passenger heading home for work—you meet each person with warmth, patience, and professionalism. You communicate clearly, listen carefully, and handle unexpected situations with a steady hand. You're comfortable working independently, take initiative naturally, and approach every flight with the same dedication: ensuring every passenger arrives safely and smiles.
What We're Looking For?
We're seeking candidates who bring both life experience and a genuine service mindset. To be considered for this role, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age and eligible to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Bring proven customer service experience and a polished, professional appearance
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011), CPR Certificate (HLTAID009), and RSA Statement—or be willing to obtain them prior to starting
- Possess a valid passport with at least six months' validity
- Be able to swim 50 metres fully clothed and tread water for three minutes
- Maintain excellent health and fitness, with normal ear, nose, and throat function and adequate vision (glasses or contacts are fine)
- Be available for a 24/7 rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays—aviation doesn't pause, and neither does our service
English Language Requirements
Meet one of the following English language requirements:
- Completed at least three years of secondary education in Australia or New Zealand, OR
- Worked in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, or the USA for three of the last five years, OR
- Achieved an overall IELTS score of 5.5 or higher
It would be highly regarded if you also have:
- Previous experience on the Dash 8 or similar aircraft types
