WestJet Encore is on the lookout for dedicated and highly committed Cabin Crew Members to join its team in Calgary, AB. As ambassadors of the airline, Cabin Crew Members represent the heart of WestJet's culture and values. In this vital role, CCMs serve as safety, security, and service professionals, entrusted with ensuring the well-being of guests, fellow crew members, and the aircraft throughout every flight.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Cabin Crew Member, you will uphold exceptional guest service standards both inflight and on the ground, complete service and sales in accordance with WestJet Encore service standards, and greet and engage guests onboard the aircraft while carrying yourself with the utmost professionalism while on duty. You will ensure the safety, security, and comfort of all guests by enforcing and following all standard operating procedures to maintain compliance with WestJet Encore and regulatory requirements. You will operate safety and emergency equipment such as oxygen systems, aircraft doors, fire extinguishers, galley equipment, communication equipment, and lighting systems, and be able to handle first aid situations onboard the aircraft. You will also manage uncomfortable situations such as disruptive and unruly guests using de-escalation techniques.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be at least 19 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with post-secondary education being an asset. The ability to communicate proficiently in both written and spoken English is mandatory, and bilingualism in languages such as French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Punjabi, Hindi, Tagalog, or Korean is considered an asset. A current valid passport is required, or alternatively, a Canadian Permanent Resident card along with all necessary individual visas to perform the duties of a Cabin Crew Member wherever WestJet Encore operates. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Pass, which requires a 5-year traceable history, a clear criminal record, and Canadian citizenship or a Permanent Resident Card. A minimum of 5 years of experience in providing exceptional customer service is necessary, as well as the ability to solve problems and make quick decisions in the interest of crew and guests. Applicants must be comfortable working in confined spaces and flexible enough to work a varied schedule. A clear criminal background check and an Alcohol & Drug test are required, as well as the ability to reach 183 cm (72 inches) flat-footed without shoes, due to emergency equipment requirements. The height must be 6’2” or less, including footwear with a maximum 2-inch heel. Applicants must pass a functional assessment, which includes lifting 50 pounds from floor to waist and 22 pounds overhead. Functional capabilities must meet the essential functions of the Cabin Crew Member role. Successful completion of a 5-week full-time initial training program in Calgary, along with annual training and any additional training deemed necessary by the company, is required. Applicants must also complete a first aid course prior to initial training at their own expense. This role requires travel away from home, including overnight stays, and flexibility to work any shift, as the airline industry operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. Applicants must also be available for on-call shifts and holding reserve and be able to adhere to strict uniform standards.
